Another Bears quilt, a very special one.

This quilt is very similar to the last Chicago Bears quilt I made. I'm making this quilt for an old high school friend of mine. His son tragically passed away last summer, and way too young. Kirby's son was a big Chicago Bears fan and I incorporated photos of Jamie with meaningful phrases embroidered on the quilt.

Finished quilt

Closeup of the photo area. I also put a a few references to some of the Bears, Payton and Da' Coach and a Bears helmet. I cant wait to see it all quilted up.

My quilting buddy

Emily the Quilter

Everyone needs a good quilting buddy.....well I have a great one! This is my granddaughter, Emily, and me. I started emily working with needle and thread when she was around 8, she is now 17. She made a simple block, made by hand. The stitches were huge and it was a little crooked, but i was very proud of her. She has come a long way since then. She's made about 13 quilts, from traditional piecing to a 70's looking raggy, that's she's hauled all over with her.

This picture is actually from Emily's 17th birthday dinner on Jan 6th, 2010.

This is the latest quilt Emily made. She just loved the wild colors and prints and just started cutting sqaures and sewing blocks. She absolutely loves it and sleeps with it every night.

We didnt know what to do with the back, so we just took her left overs and did big long strips. I think it turned out awesome and really turned out cool. Really shows off the quilting too. I did the quilting on my longarm machine.
